From a Claude Design mockup to a real website

The short answer

Claude Design (Anthropic Labs, April 2026) turns a description into a polished, interactive design you can export as standalone HTML, a zip, PDF or slides, or hand to Claude Code to build. It does not host, its forms do not send anywhere, and nobody on your team can edit the result without going back to the prompt. Making it a real website means hosting the HTML for a demo, having a developer build from the handoff, or rebuilding it as a WordPress site you own. This series covers all three.

What Claude Design gives you

Claude Design is an Anthropic Labs product, launched in April 2026 and included with Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans at claude.ai/design. You describe a landing page, a dashboard, an onboarding flow or a whole site, and Claude produces a working, interactive design in real front-end code: HTML, CSS and JavaScript you can click through. It can inherit your design system from a repository or design files, and it exports in several ways: a standalone HTML file, a zip of the project, PDF and PPTX, or a send to Canva, Vercel, Netlify, Lovable, Wix, v0, Replit and others. When a design is ready to build, it packages a handoff bundle for Claude Code.

What it does not do, by design: host anything, take form submissions, or give the next person a way to change the page without prompting. The shared Claude link is a demo. That is the whole gap between a Claude Design mockup and a website.

What a website needs that the export does not have

  • Hosting and a domain. The HTML export runs anywhere, and static hosts will serve it in minutes. But then it is a file on a server: every change means re-exporting and re-uploading.
  • Forms that Send. A contact form in a Claude Design export is markup. It requires a service behind it to email you, store the entry and notify Slack.
  • Editing by other people. Marketing changes a headline. In the export that is a code edit or a new prompt and a new export; on a website it is a text field.
  • Pages that accumulate. Posts, news, case studies, team members. A design tool has one artifact; a site has hundreds of entries over time and needs somewhere to keep them.
  • Fundamentals of Search and Social include title and description meta tags, sitemaps, Open Graph tags, and Schema.org/structured data, URL redirects, and canonical tags.
  • Analytics under consent. A tag manager, a consent banner that gates it, and the privacy page it refers to.

The first case is generally correct more often than not. If there’s no form, no expected changes, and the HTML is served, feel free to move on. The second case is for products. The third case is for the scenario that Claude Design is most commonly used for, a marketing site, where the design is done and the next ten years are editing, publishing and forms.

How the rebuild works

  1. After exporting your project to HTML, put it on any temporary URL (a static host’s free tier is fine) and enter it. The scanner measures it with Google PageSpeed, counts the pages and quotes a fixed price: $499 for up to 15 pages, then $25 per page after that.
  2. We rebuild the design pixel for pixel. Once we’ve built a lean WordPress block theme, we edit pages to place content within blocks, wire forms, and integrate analytics and consent management. Exported CSS by Claude Design defines specs, and it’s what we follow.
  3. Approve. A staging link, side by side with your design. Nothing goes live until you say so.
  4. Switch. Your domain points at the new site. With managed hosting, the guarantee starts at launch: 93+ Performance on desktop or hosting is free until we hit it.

Start with the scan

Free, under a minute, and fixed price. The scanner was built by Claude, and we use Claude Design and Claude Code in our own rebuilds. We are fans. We just know where the design stops and the website starts.

Questions people ask

Can Claude Design publish a website?

It can create a link to the design and can send files to providers like Vercel or Netlify. Those providers handle the publishing. It doesn’t perform any of those functions, nor does it host the site or provide an online editor or forms. The export option simply provides a way to take a site out of the design tool and create a starting point for a site, not a completed site.

How do I turn a Claude Design into a WordPress site?

Develop a WordPress block theme based on the design, and exported HTML and CSS and move content to pages. Refer steps at how to move a Claude Design site to WordPress for more information. A broad overview of the process is available at HTML to WordPress.

Is Claude Design free?

It is included in all paid Claude plans (Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise) and will be part of your Claude allowance, like the rest of the Claude features. Currently, there is no free Claude Design plan, and there is no design plan separate from the main plan.

What does it cost to make a Claude Design into a real site?

Hosting exports: nothing. Developer build: their rate. MightyMigrate: $499 for a site of up to 15 pages, live in 48 hours, with optional hosting at $69 a month.
