Usage limits and pricing
Design functionality is provided by Claude Design. It’s available in all plans from Pro onwards, and can be enabled by an admin in Enterprise plans. It does not cost extra, and design activity draws from the same usage pool as chat and Claude Code on your plan, so a long session of design iterations eats into the rest of your day’s Claude use. There is no free tier at the time of writing.
If you run into a limit while creating a design, that becomes the plan’s ceiling, and not a Claude Design limit. The design is saved, and you can continue when the allowance resets.
What it is for, and where it stops
Claude Design produces designs, interactive prototypes, one-pagers, slides and dashboards from a description, matching a design system you give it, and exports them as HTML, a zip, PDF, PPTX or a handoff to Claude Code. For getting from an idea to a design your team can react to, it is as good as anything we have used, and MightyMigrate uses it. Five things it deliberately does not do are the whole distance between its output and a website:
1. It does not host
The share link is a demo. To put the design on your domain, you export it. From there you can send it to either Vercel or Netlify to host it, and after that, you would export it and host it every time you want to update it. Designs that are not changing can be hosted as an export. Anything that you might need to update would need to be built as a website.
2. Its forms do not send
Contact forms that say “submit” and then redirect to nothing are design elements used to register the functionality of a contact form in a prototype. They become traps in a production environment. A “contact us” form that is not functional loses leads silently. Put a form service or plugin behind every form before the page goes live, and test it.
3. Nobody else can edit it
In Claude Design, people can view, comment on and edit the artifact if you let them. Hosting a designed page turns it into a file, and the only way to edit it is to write code or export it again. If an employee needs to update a design to include a later date, for example, what is the solution? A content Management System (CMS) is a solution if more than one employee is going to change a site.
4. It holds one design, not a site’s worth of content
A site is dozens of pages. Each has the same header, footer and nav. There are articles, case studies and news pages. These pages are published over several years. A design tool holds one artifact. Do: Use Claude Design to define the style for each page type. Keep all content in a CMS designed for content.
5. Search, analytics and consent are not its job
Per-page titles and descriptions, a sitemap, redirects, structured data, a tag manager, a consent banner: none of these are in a design export, and all of them are in a business website. Do: expect to add them, or use a platform where they are fields.
When Claude Design is still the right choice
- Quickly making a decision on a site or product’s design by getting feedback on design studies or other work in progress.
- A launch teaser or one-page site that will not change and has no form.
- The front end of a product a developer (or Claude Code) is about to build.
- This product does slides, one-pagers and mockups.
What to do with a Claude Design that needs to be a website
Maintain the design. Rebuilding it as a WordPress site gives you the added benefit of generating editable pages, forms, and emails all within the WordPress dashboard, server rendered pages, and control over web hosting. The design is the expensive part, and it is finished. You can find the steps to moving your site over to WordPress in our guide Moving a Claude Design Site to WordPress.
Or have it done
MightyMigrate rebuilds your Claude Design, pixel for pixel, as a fast WordPress site your team can edit: hosting, forms that send, analytics, your domain. $499 for a site, live in 48 hours, staging link first.
Questions people ask
How much does Claude Design cost?
It is part of Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, and it will be counted toward your plan’s limit.
Is there a Claude Design usage limit?
Only the plan’s. Anthropic’s help article says Claude Design “counts toward the same usage limits as the rest of Claude,” indicating there is no distinct limit for it.
Can Claude Design build a whole website?
It can design every page of one and export the code. Hosting, forms, editing, content and search setup are what “build” means beyond that, and they happen after the export.
