Lovable vs WordPress for a business website

The short answer

For creating and developing a business or marketing site that your team edits, hosts on its own terms and grows for years, you should use WordPress. If you need a quick, basic prototype for a web-app, you should use Lovable. Most people who ask this question have already done the second part; the table below is about what happens next.

The comparison, without adjectives

LovableWordPress, rebuilt
What it isAn AI app builder that generates a React (TanStack Start or Vite) application from prompts and hosts itA content management system that runs about two fifths of the web, on hosting you choose
EditingPrompt the AI; each change uses credits. A code editor is available on paid plans.A visual page editor. Anyone on the team edits text, images and pages without credits or code.
HostingLovable hosts every published app. Custom domains on paid plans.Any host. MightyMigrate’s managed hosting is optional and carries the performance guarantee.
Forms and dataNeed Lovable Cloud or Supabase; prompted into existence, run on the backend’s creditsForm plugins that email, store entries and post to Slack or a CRM, no backend to run
Search enginesServer-rendered (new projects) or pre-rendered for verified crawlers (older projects) on Lovable’s hosting; per-route titles, sitemap and robots need setting upServer-rendered HTML on every request; titles, descriptions, sitemap, schema and redirects are standard
PerformanceDepends on what the AI generated; a React bundle on every pageDepends on the theme and host; a lean block theme scores 90+ on desktop
Cost over three yearsPro at $25 a month is $900, plus the credits every edit uses, plus the backend’s usage$499 once for the rebuild; hosting from $69 a month managed or less elsewhere
OwnershipThe code is exportable on every plan; the hosting, backend and editing experience are Lovable’sCode, content, database and hosting account are yours; move hosts any time

Where Lovable wins

Speed from idea to something clickable. Nothing else gets a non-developer from a description to a working, styled, hosted prototype in an afternoon, and the free plan is enough to find out whether an idea holds up. It is also genuinely good at applications: dashboards, tools with logins, anything that reads and writes data. Lovable Cloud and the Supabase integration give those apps a backend without a developer, and the AI features you can build into an app are a real product capability, not a gimmick.

If you built an app, this page isn’t asking you to leave. This is directed to those of you who have built a website.

Where WordPress wins

Editing by people who are not you. A colleague fixing a typo, marketing publishing a case study, an intern swapping a photo: on WordPress that is a page editor and a Publish button. On Lovable it is a prompt, a credit, a regeneration and a check that nothing else moved.

Forms that just work. A contact form on WordPress emails you, stores the entry, and can post to Slack or your CRM through plugins that have existed for a decade. On Lovable the same form needs a backend, and that backend has its own credits and its own place to break.

Search. Lovable has done real work here since May 2026: new projects are server-rendered and older ones are pre-rendered for verified crawlers. But that is a property of Lovable’s hosting, and the per-page titles, descriptions, sitemap and robots rules still have to be prompted into place and checked. On WordPress every page is server-rendered on every host, and those controls are a field in the editor.

Owning the whole thing. On WordPress the code, the content, the database and the hosting account are yours. With tens of thousands of options, you can move your site anytime. More than most website builders, Lovable allows you to download the code with all of your plans. The backend, the website hosting and the editing interface are provided by Lovable.

Who each one is for

  • Stay on Lovable if you built an application, you are the only person who will ever change it, and you are happy to keep prompting. Upgrade for the custom domain and you are done.
  • Move to WordPress if your site contains pages, a blog or news section, and a contact or quote form, and if more than one person needs to edit the site. That’s the type of site WordPress makes best. Plus, the Lovable prototype has already made design decisions, so the major decisions have already been made for you.
  • Build out both the marketing site and the application if you built a complete product. Teams build Lovable apps then construct marketing sites on WordPress. The app links to the site and the site links to the app.

Moving from Lovable to WordPress

Design changes, code stays the same. A Lovable project is a React application, and WordPress does not support React pages, so when we say “convert”, we mean rebuild the design as a WordPress theme. The converter tools automatically generate the WordPress theme based on your project design and stop there. You are then responsible for finishing the site by moving the content and making it functional. If you want to know more, head over to the guide on moving a Lovable project to WordPress.

Questions people ask

Is it Lovable or Loveable?

Lovable, one E, at lovable.dev. “Loveable” is a common spelling in searches and in conversation, so if that is how you got here, you are in the right place.

Can WordPress do what Lovable does?

Not the part where you describe an app and get one. WordPress is a publishing system with an enormous plugin ecosystem, not an AI app generator. For a business website that difference does not matter; for a logged-in product it does.

Is WordPress slower than a Lovable site?

Lots of poorly made WordPress sites exist. A streamlined block theme will typically result in a desktop score in the high 90s on Google PageSpeed. That is why MightyMigrate can guarantee it. What’s your site’s current score? To find out, run the scan on your Lovable site.

What does Lovable cost for a website?

You’ll get a subdomain on lovable.app for free, with a badge. Your own domain needs a paid plan (Pro, currently $25 a month), and every edit uses credits from the plan’s monthly allowance. Sites that aren’t edited become cheap, quickly; sites that are edited frequently become costly.
